Actually what most of us do is add it as a entry in the hosts file
example:

192.168.210.1 router1

then add router1 as an entry to /etc/defaultrouter

If you mean that you have used the static ip of your router as the
entry in /etc/defaultrouter yes that's a normal thing to do.
