Thanks RTM for the tips. I am running Solaris 2.8 on Sun Ultra Sparc.

The thing is I was able to telnet and use the box a couple of months back and then I shut it down and did not touch it for a month plus, now when I fire it back up, telnet doesn't work. I am puzzle....

Newbie in the Unix world here....trying to load Solaris 2.8 AGAIN, and trying to secure the box this time. Any suggestions anyone? Any tips? Appreciate your help, gurus!

I checked /etc/inetd.conf and telnet is not commented out. I don't have a /etc/hosts.allow or /etc/hosts.deny file. Is that a problem? I am logged in as root. Checked the...
