You need to create boot image for fixed disks:

bosboot -a

Also, I think the new pv (hdisk20) isnt part of rootvg yet. Can u do:

lsvg -p rootvg

well, if you log into HMC console as hscroot, there is no need to config ssh, just go to HMC management, Open Restricted Shell Terminal

The one I usually use is:

lsmksysb -lf /dev/rmt_no

I think you are doing the right way, but this could be a better solution:

I got it. Cron daemon seems to be stalled with defunct process. I killed that process and everything seems to be fine now. Thanks.

If you have the linux toolbox CD, that would be the easiest way to install C++ compiler.
