figured it out....

in the second script i had:


the "nohup" was inside the string variable....

i moved the nohup to the outside of the string variable, and all worked out....

ok... this is where i am at... i need a script to call another script as a wrapper because the first script creates a sub-shell.

here is what i got... i kick off the first script...

are you guys telling me that i have stumped the guru's???

oh... one more thing that i was told to tell you all that might help... i am actually remotely connected to the server via "PUTTY"......

ok... want to start off by saying i am sorry for the ignorance... still trying to figure out the diffs between solaris and aix... and i think that is where i am running into problems... :o
