Found an answer to this question after looking for few days. Real issue banner page need to be set up No banner. Number of banners zero does not mean no banner. Following details did the trick for me on SCo openserver 5.0.7.
Non-root user cannot print to spooled printers , but the same non-root user CAN print from UNIX.
Solution:
The printer definition is set to "Banner required". To determine if the printer requires a banner, do the following:
login as root
Enter: lpstat -l -p <printer name>
One of the lines will be "Banner required" or "Banner not required"
printer lp is idle. enabled since Thu Apr 10 09:37:42 1997. available.
Form mounted:
Content types: simple
Printer type: unknown
Description:
Connection: direct
Interface: /usr/spool/lp/model/standard
On fault: mail to root once
After fault: continue
Users allowed:
(all)
Forms allowed:
(all)
** Banner required
Number of banners printed: 1
Character sets:
(none)
Default pitch:
Default page size: 200 wide 66 long
Default port settings:
To change the banner setting:
Enter: /usr/lib/lpadmin -p<printer name> -o nobanner
Enter: lpstat -lp <printer name>
It should now display "Banner not required" As soon as this is done Printer Prints
