Operating Systems SCO Install Hang OpenServer 6 - SATA CDROM

Hi Jack

I've tried the MP4 driver cd as suggested.
When I ask it to load additional (HBA) drivers, the system just hangs.
If I look at the console, the 'WARNING: FDC Unexpected State' message crops up, so I am deducing that it has been looking for the drivers on the NON-EXISTENT Floppy drive.

How can I persuade the install to look for drivers on the CD drive rather than the floppy?
Or is there a way to load the megasas driver via the boot-time loadable modules at the Boot: prompt?

Thanks
Andy

No, there is no btld at the boot prompt.
I should make better notes.... I think that all that I did was swap the CD's (the install cd, for the driver cd) before answering the question about more drivers, then swapping back when it asks the same question again, and answering no.

Hi Jack,

I tried the same thing - swap the cd over to the mp4 driver cd - but that didn't work either.

The system hangs if I answer YES to the question to load more HBA drivers and DOESN't activate the CDROM drive ie doesnt even access the CD.
Incidentally if I answer NO to the question, the system then proceeds to 'Extract drivers' from the CD and still DOESN't activate the CDROM drive - but flicking over to the Console then reveals the 'WARNING: FDC Unexpected State' message.

To my mind, for some reason it goes off looking for a floppy drive that doesn't exist, even though it should be working off the CD drive as the CD drive is assigned to both BOOTDEV and STARTDEV. So why is it looking for a floppy?

Am completely stuck now, have exhausted all possibilities!

Will the disk drives connect directly to the cable from the controller, or is there an intermediate circuit board that might prevent that?
If you can connect two of the drives directly to the LSI card, then make those two, a RAID1 configuration, and system drive 0.
Move the card and the two drives to a desktop system that has a standard IDE configuration, and a suitable PCI express slot (probably the slot for the video card).
Do the install, then add MP4 and OSS714, then move the controller and disks back to the main system. The system will take a long time to boot as it finds the new hardware so be patient (up to 10 minutes).
Set up the additional 5 disks as RAID(?) and system drive 1.
Add back the addtional 12gb of memory, (I presume you have a license for more than 4gb?)

Sorted Thank you.

Had to put LSI card in an 'older' machine with a floppy and IDE CDROM. It read the LSI driver no problem. Am in the process of installing SCO now and MP4 then will refit card to Supermicro Server and hopefully all will be well.

Many thanks to all who helped.
