UUCP connections

Hi There

Is there a maximum number of concurrent incoming uucp connections to a server?
SCO Openserver 5.07

Is there a parameter in some config file where this can be changed?

Thanx

Are you saying that concurrent connections are being rejected before you run out of serial ports?

One server (lets call it SERVER A) is used as a landing zone for files.
There is about 1200 other servers sending files every few minutes to SERVER A via UUCP.

uulog shows hundreds and hundreds of PERMISSION DENIED errors.

Now the problem is SERVER B uucp to SERVER A and gets a PERMISSION DENIED error, but the next time uucp it goes through without errors.

I am thinking that because of all these connections happening all the time, sometimes it causes PERMISSION DENIED errors.

Is it possible, that that can be the cause.

All permissions is set correctly.

UUCP uses lock files. My guess is that you have so many connection attempts that a lock file for a previous session still exists when the next connection attempts to use the same tty.
Is there some reason that you cannot use ftp or email?

Old system that will be out in the next 2 years. So no changes will be made.

Is lock files removed by the system itself?

Normally yes...
The connections can fail due to high load on the server also ( didnt have the time to aknowledge... or timeout for connection a bit too short, but this can also be the case on the server trying to connect( not letting enough time for your old SCO server..) )
