There are instructions for changing this on a 3Com card in the link. You will have to modify appropriately if your card is different.

And I want a general way to change the Mac address

As far as I can tell, there is no program like ifconfig that will change the MAC address.
Look at TA-127464
Cannot connect via TCP/IP to my newly imported and configured SCO OpenServer 5.0.7V Virtual Machine

And also "man ndstat"
If you read between the lines of these two references, the implication is that changing the MAC address can be done, but not by SCO products.
