How to delete only directories alone?
Hi,

I need to delete (remove) only directories.

How to achieve this? Plz help

Hello,

Please find the following code, this may help you.

Code:
> Directories_info
ls -ltr | grep '^d' | awk '{print $9}' > Directories_info
while read line
do
echo $line
rm -rf $line
echo "Deleted the directory" $line "successfully"
done < "Directories_info"

Hi,

I asked linux command to do that.

This one seemed like programming code.

Give me a linux command to delete only directories

How about using find
Code:
find . -type d -exec rmdir {} \;

This will delete directories (-type d) fromt he current directory (.) and below if they are empty. An rm -rf will delete them any their contents if that's what you want.

Efficiently delete all empty sub-directories:
Code:
find . -depth -type d -empty -delete

and ignore an eventual error for .
Or use
Code:
find dir -depth -type d -empty -delete
