sendmail not working

Hi,
My mails (postfix - apologies about the heading) have suddenly stopped sending, and I am trying to find out why.

We use ESMTP mail relay (blacknight), nothing has changed on our side and I am able to ping the IP address of blacknight on port 25.

I suspect an issue with the external relay?

Code:
Dec 14 14:16:57 MVRTS4 postfix/pickup[18321]: 2D653D8055: uid=0 from=<root>
Dec 14 14:16:57 MVRTS4 postfix/cleanup[10169]: 2D653D8055: message-id=<20111214141657.2D653D8055@MVRTS4.localdomain>

Dec 14 14:17:02 MVRTS4 postfix/bounce[10175]: 2D653D8055: sender non-delivery notification: 56346D8056
Dec 14 14:17:02 MVRTS4 postfix/qmgr[4249]: 56346D8056: from=<>, size=2224, nrcpt=1 (queue active)
Dec 14 14:17:02 MVRTS4 postfix/qmgr[4249]: 2D653D8055: removed
Dec 14 14:17:02 MVRTS4 postfix/local[10172]: 56346D8056: to=<root@MVRTS4.localdomain>, relay=local, delay=0, delays=0/0/0/0, dsn=5.2.2, status=bounced (cannot update mailbox /var/mail/root for user root. error writing message: File too large)

Since you say nothing has changed on your side I'm assuming this was working fine in the past.

What's your postfix relay configuration?

Have you restarted the postfix daemon (service postfix restart).

Besides, I see there is some issue with your mail spool. If the process unable to write to /var, it would be a good idea to fix that too.

The email server "blacknight" is rejecting your mail because it cannot do a reverse DNS lookup of your computer name "MVRTS4.localdomain".

On your local computer I suspect that the root mail file "/var/mail/root" is size two Gigabytes.
