Password not changed!

Hi I am using Fedora 14. I forgot root password of Fedora 14 so I used online help from Fedora website which says by doing rheb silent 1 and then using proper kernel and then using psswd for changing the password I changed it.
But after normal booting GUI I am not able to log-on.
Can anybody plz help?

You really should not try to truncate or concatenate words when you are posting. It makes even native English speakers such as myself wonder what you are on about.

You must boot into single user mode (You can append [linux 1]) to the line in grub that contains your kernel

From there, you should be able to run passwd (not pssswd like you wrote) and change the password.

However, if the user you are trying to log in to the GUI is not root that will not help you. Also, I do not suggest using root as your general user ID.

It may be preventing you from logging into the GUI as root because doing so is a really bad idea.

Create a limited user and put it in the 'wheel' group. Try and log in as that. It won't be root but should have the ability to su into root.

Hi!
I want to update the situation now!
I tried changing password using single user mode, it changed password on terminal then I tried activating GUI. But it is saying authentication failure, but interestingly if I change any other user's password it is logging-on the system.
It may be due to PAM. I don't know how to log-on using root.
Please help!
