Error BackupPC on Centos 5.6 x86_64

Hello LinuxFourms ,

i`m not sure if this is the right place where my post should be , so plz guide me if i`m wrong ..

i`m trying to set up a Central Backup Server with BackupPC installed on Centos 5.6 x86_64,

My Centos has Samba3x / Winbind integrated with Active Directory

i found this nice Wiki HowTos/BackupPC - CentOS Wiki , to get my BackupPC installed .

after installing RPMForge's repo and settin` up the priorities to the repos, PackageManagement/Yum/Priorities - CentOS Wiki ,

i get the following error regarding Samba3x Conflicts , i dont wanna miss up my Samba Configuration to install BackupPC,

even --skip-broken option does not work for me

i`m pretty sure there`s a work ground for this , Any Suggestions ??

Appreciated ..

You could try using --skip-broken to work around the problem
You could try running: package-cleanup --problems
                        package-cleanup --dupes
                        rpm -Va --nofiles --nodigest
The program package-cleanup is found in the yum-utils package.

Unless you are willing to remove your existing Samba packages and use the packages from the testing repo, there is nothing you can do.

Thank you fpmurphy for your quick reply ,
i thought i can get around this by excluding the samba/samba-common from being installed along with BackupPc Package , but like you said seems nothing i can do about it , any way i`ll remove my existing samba and give a shot for the packages from the repo .
one last question plz , how can i use the exclude option while installing some package with yum.
Regards ..

From man yum on linuxmanpages.net
Quote:
--exclude=package
Exclude a specific package by name or glob from updates on all repositories.

This is definitely a "stupid" question, but I can't think of anywhere else to ask it, so here goes.
