You state that you are using Fedora 15.

Where did you get 7z from? It is not available in the Fedora 15 repositories.

memtest86 is usually used as a standalone tool, because a machine with faulty memory usually can't run an operating system reliably. It comes on many rescue CD's and the like, and Gentoo's "install-x86-minimal" livecd's. Just type in 'memtest86' at the Gentoo CD's boot prompt and hit enter. After that point memtest86 is standalone (doesn't even need the CD).

I just checked a live cd of Fedora 15 and it has 7z. Would that be why its not in the repositories that you checked?

I just checked a live cd of Fedora 15 and it has 7z. Would that be why its not in the repositories that you checked?
