Redhat - Software download

Hello,

I am not a sysadmin. I wanted to install Redhat linux 64 bit on my PC in a new secondary hard disk. Could you please help me where can I download 64 bit Redhat Linux? I tried on the redhat download page and find out the below mentioned versions

Red Hat Linux 7.1 i386
Red Hat Linux 7.2 i386
Red Hat Linux 7.3 i386

Could you tell me if above are the right versions and they are 64 bit?

Thank you.

Red Hat 7 is ancient (~2002?). I'd be surprised if you found that on the RedHat website! The files you list are 32-bit (i386 says as much. x86_64 would be the 64-bit versions).

You need to subscribe to RedHat to use their Linux, and it isn't free.

You could, instead, try Fedora or CentOS (both RedHat-based, both free). A google for either will find you their websites.

as an additional bit of info, CentOS is the closest you will get to Red Hat Enterprise Linux (barring some others like Scientific Linux, Whitebox, etc). Is there any particular reason you need Red Hat?

Also, if it may make things easier on you, not being familiar with Linux, you can install software like Virtualbox and manage the Linux install from within whatever OS you are more familiar with.

Just for the record, RH 7 (7.1, 7.2 & 7.3) is still available for download in RedHat Network. Although it's i386 only. Smilie
