Linux - update/upgrade

Hi,

I'm interesting do you have a some solution/good practice how upgrade/update OS with possibility to back previously release (something like Live upgrade in Solaris) ?

Most times, you cannot roll back. However, you should have a good backup of your system if you intend to do an upgrade.

One method involves pulling a mirrored drive before the upgrade and then recovering by removing the drive where the upgrade failed and booting from the original mirror drive.

Red Hat based systems: yum install update or yum install upgrade!!!

Hi, I would like to know the difference between YUM UPDATE and YUM UPGRADE. The man pages say upgrade is same as update with the obsolete option.
