You are probably going to get into some trouble with your OS if you cannot spell the components. Linux (Not Lynix) is how it is spelled. Also, VMware not VMwear (This will help you when searching for answers).
Linux based operating systems are case sensitive. They require not only the correct spelling, but also the correct case of character to be used. Broken parameters, caused by incorrect spelling or case are difficult to troubleshoot at times and can cause instability.
However, that being said:
You should look at how to use sysctl and sysctl.conf to set the parameters you wish for the system.
