The difference between init.d and xinit.d dir ...

What's the difference between the two. I've seen xinit.d directory not always but on some systems.

/etc/xinit.d is used by the xinitd service. The service, xinetd, is a service designed to provide the same functionality as inetd, but with better configuration options and better security. It can provide the same services as inetd.
