command what
Hello,
I need to use command "what" on RHES. This command gives some pattern that begins with "@(#) xxxx xxxx xxxx". I have already used "man what" to see de usage and everything is ok, but when I try to invoke the command it not appear. On HPUNIX, that command is placed at: /usr/bin but in RH not appear.

Any ideas?

What shell are you using?
What did you type?
What was the expected response?
What was the actual response?



Ps. There is no word "de" in English. Seen it several times on this board recently. Do you have multiple identities?

Hello,
Yes, you are rigth, the word de, not exist in english. Just a wrong key stroke.
And no I donīt have multiple identities on the board.

My shell is bash, but also tried with, sh, ksh, etc.
I type: what program_object
Expected result: This command will search and get all the "(@) zzz-zzz-zzz" sequences on the object and print on the display.
Actual response: -bash: what: command not found
