cc compiler issue
Quick Question, may be very easy to answer.
I've just got a Sparc 5 for my home with Solaris 2.6 pre installed onto it. When I go to use the Solaris Compiler 'cc' it comes back to me with the message '/usr/ucb/cc: language optional software package not installed'.
Is this something that can be installed easily? or is this a path probem?

can u able to do man gcc or gcc --help if it gives you the appropriate help with some sections on it then it means your cc path is out of order but it turns to something like man not found or similiar then the package is confirmed not installed. Try to check with the vendor from where you purchase the Sparc system and install the OS. Maybe they have or should have the language package installations. Do post back

Sun doesn't include a C compiler with the OS. I suggest getting GCC from www.sunfreeware.com, or download and/or purchase Forte from Sun.
