Sorry for a silly question. I a program that need to compile with -DUSE_LONGLONG to turn on the long Int as the document of that program said so, but I really don't know how to do this. I normally do this:

./configure
make
make install

and it works fine. But I don't know how to compile with -DUSE_LONGLONG option. Could someone help?

One solution is to set the CFLAGS environment variable to the define macro:

$ export CFLAGS="$CFLAGS -DUSE_LONGLONG" # or whatever command your shell uses to set and export environment variables

then just type the previous commands as normal:

$ ./configure
$ make
$ make install

If your make file was written to use the CFLAGS environment variable, you will see the -DUSE_LONGLONG argument on the command line each time make invokes gcc.
