reducing size of executeable in C under Unix

Hi,

Could any one tell me how to reduce the size of an executable file of C under
Unix.

use strip command...

but the downside is if you are using strip command,

debugging symbols and information will not be available to debug

2. check compiler option for optimisation based on code size, not speed

3. using dynamic linking instead of static linking

4. avoid duplication of code
