Maybe paste all the error messages here. Usually, make will output the command that failed with the error messages.

From the output, it seems like the makefile is not correctly written. At least something has been severely messed up. Some cc lines are even simply wrong.

Another Make File Problem

Hi, i have am make file problem too. It is driving me mad!

My make file is:
Code:
program : main.o a.o b.o
cc -o program main.o a.o b.o
main.o : main.c
        cc -c main.c
a.o : a.c
        cc -c a.c
b.o : b.c
        cc -c b.c

When I run it i just get the following error message:
"make: Fatal error in reader: makefile, line 3: Unexpected end of line seen"

My contents of the folder is:
cs3% ls
a.c a.o b.c b.o main.c main.o makefile

It all compiles fine outside the make file.

Any Ideas Anyone PLEASE!

make sure that the targets are properly tabbed.

1. let make do it job,
2. do not define rules if you do not need
3. do not define dependencies you do not need
4. at least one object should be called like the programm

then the makefile reduces to one line

program : program.o a.o b.o

you may like to add CC,CFLAGS etc later when ypu need it.
(note: i do not use dmake, i prefer gnu-make but i guess they work equal in this tiny file)
