open cmd

if((LogFile=open(TempStr,O_CREAT|O_WRONLY|O_APPEND,0666))==-1)
return(1);

could someone explain me what the open() does here

opens a file for write only access. LogFile is a file descriptor (an integer).
the 06666 sets the protections on the new file.

open returns a (-1) when it fails, so the function returns 1 on failure.

The open() system call opens a file descriptor for the named file and
sets the file status flags according to the value of oflag.

check "man open"
