Error maximum number of dots in a domain name
maximum number of dots in a domain name - not a sub-domain name.

for example:
mydomain.com ------ one dot
mydomain.com.au ------ two dots

do you know maximum number of dots in a domain name and could you provide a sample?

No official limit is expressed on the number of dots. A fqdn is limited to 255 characters. I think you could conceivably construct a name with 127 dots. But no, I'm not gonna type in an example of that, Smilie
