how to diplay the file details on terminal in table format
hi all

i want to display the details of text files on terminal in table format

as

JobID SubmissionTime ExecutionTime CompletionTime Status Server Machine


user_1 00:00:00 00:00:00 00:00:00 02 Worker1
user_2 00:00:00 00:00:00 00:00:00 02 Worker2
user_3 00:00:00 00:00:00 00:00:00 02 Worker3

this all details i am reading from different users folders which will be large numbers and the filelds to display are also more

other than printf statement is there is another way to do this

plz help me

What is the matter with printf/fprintf? These functions seem to be just what you want.. they have good formatting options - you can have your columns as wide/narrow as you want.

Another way to do this would be to create your output line in a string first using sprintf (but that is very similar to printf/fprintf), and then use write(2) to write to the standart output.
