this gives the search results as well as the following -

some of the data i receive has been typed in manually due to which there are often places where i find 8 instead of ( and the incorrect use of case

I'm using korn shell to connect to oracle, retrieve certain values, put them in a list, and iterate through them. While this method works, I can't help but think there is an easier method.

Check the existence and versions of HPLIP dependencies. (Run as 'python ./check.py' from the HPLIP tarball before installation.)
SYNOPSIS
hp-check [OPTIONS]
OPTIONS
Compile-time check:
-c or --compile
Run-time check:
-r or --run
Compile and run-time checks:
-b or --both (default)
Fix the found issues on confirmation:
--fix
Set the logging level:
-l<level> or --logging=<level> <level>: none, info*, error, warn, debug (*default)
Run in debug mode:
-g (same as option: -ldebug)
Output plain text only:
-t

1. For checking for the proper build environment for the HPLIP supplied tarball (.tar.gz or .run),
