Writing a search, copy and paste program
Hello,

Can some one help me by writing me the script of a program that does the following simple functions on a Linux Mint:

1. it runs in the background all the time, doing nothing except of checking if there is any external device mounted.

2. when the device is detected, it copies files with the extensions .doc .xls .jpg .avi to the destination of choice

3. after copying, it quits (it could also start ignoring the device and wait for a different one)"

You can continually 'find' the mount point for files, and for every one copied, make a 'cksum' entry in a file, and do not recopy what you have a cksum match on. If you copy the same name of file, you might want to update the checksum+length in the file. You can sort the cksum lines and compare lists with 'comm'.

However, it sounds like you could configure rsyncd to do this for you. https://www.unix.com/man-page/linux/5/rsyncd.conf/

vi copy/paste problem

I'm having a problem copy/pasting from a txt file in windows to vi. What happens is I copy a chunk of text, go to the putty terminal, go into insert mode, and right click, and it will stop pasting at a random point and freeze up. Nothing I do gets out of it.
