Ok so I'm new on here and new to php scripting.. I'm taking over a script that was managed by someone else and I'm trying to figure out how I can add code that looks for two conditions that would be an exception to the code below..

Code:

$colred = 0;
if(stristr($result, "containsthis")) { $colred = 1; }
if ( $colred == 1 ) {

Was thinking something along the lines of this..

Code:

$colred = 0;
if(stristr($result, "containsthis")  && ($result, "containsthat")){ $colred= 0; }
else(stristr($result, "containsthis")) { $colred = 1; }
if ( $colred == 1 ) {

It broke and I did some searching but I'm not sure what it is I'm missing or what to look for. If someone could help me with this code, provide the correct and point me in the right direction as far as what I need to learn here... I would greatly appreciate that.

I'm not at all a PHP expert (perhaps once every 5 years I have to work with it and I do so with the php.net docs on one display while I code in another). However, I think that 'else' statement is incorrect. I don't think it's allowed to take a boolean expression. 'else' usually takes a single statement (or { statement block }) to execute if it's reached. Perhaps you meant 'elseif' or 'else if'?
