c++ compile error: expected `)' before ‘strCommand’

I'm trying to learn c++ and make it compile a script to run some bash commands (cat, ls, open xterm) and can't get past the first part of the script I've borrowed to study:

Code:
#include <stdio.h>
#include <stdlib.h>
#include <unistd.h>
#include <sys/types.h>
#include <sys/wait.h>

int RunCommand(const char *strCommand)
...

when I run

g++ somefile.cpp -o somefile

I get

somefile.cpp: In function ‘int RunCommand(const char*)':
somefile.cpp:14: error: expected `)' before ‘strCommand'

I must be doing something very basically wrong, or my environment is not right, my environment is Ubuntu Jaunty amd64 duo-core with g++-4.3.

Code:
int RunCommand(const char *strCommand); <- change this
int RunCommand(const char *); <- to this

great thanks Smilie I'm really enjoying learning c++ after working mostly with BASH and some python, though it seems you have to be more precise with c++, I'm still trying to get the basic differences down, do you have any suggestions for good online tutorials for something like that?
