IP6=$(echo $IP6temp | cut -f1 -d'/') #get rid of...

IP6=$(echo $IP6temp | cut -f1 -d'/') #get rid of the /notation
can be replaced by the much more efficient variable expansion:
IP6=${IP6temp%%/*} #get rid of the /notation
