Error minor issue on question that i had posted !!

to the moderators of this site...
i posted a question several weeks ago about a egep -e if you look through my posts you will see that my question was fully plausible as a reasonable post that could have been answered even it was to say that I should search the man pages myself and find the answer.. I was completely confused at the time and did not know why the command did not work. infact I searched through everything trying to find the answer... only to find that nobody was ready to approach the subject matter either so i gave up.. take into the consideration that I am still quite a newbie and did not know that this command exists --help since it is so easy to overlook... I have been trying to figure out the answer to this question for weeks now and just finally found the answer by accident.. on fedora the egrep -e file1 file2 works with a -f flag and this i did not know.. at the time i asked my question I gave my version and linux flavor and still no one answered i tried to make a habit of keeping that information on my posts only to be insulted by someone who shall remain nameless since he is probably half my age... i have asked many questions since then have found that my questions tend to be overlooked more and more everytime that I post one.. if my approach to unix is not proper then please say so since I am confused about what I have done... . i am very serious about learning unix and have no money to go to school at the moment take any real hardcore courses which I would ace.... and also I read books, thats all I do is read and read and understand whatever I can.. so if i seem a little green compared to some of the other students all that I can is that I am probably more serious about unix that most of the unix population on this forum.. my father has been in the business (in major ways for over 28years, my two younger brothers both have their own companies one deals with software and the other with webhosting, and they are both very successful.. so I am probably correct in my assumptions about my concourse with unix.. i have made it my life long project and choice of career and will probably be doing precisely what I am doing with unix 20 years from now as I am doing now and for the last year.. to make a long story short.. if i don't have the internet communication skills that most of your students have and can't post how can learn if the rules of the forum are not sufficient enough to gain respect from thiose of you who have the skills and abilities to either make or brake my chances of learning something constructive from this forum...

I am on vacation, but when I return, I will review the threads you are taking about and get back to you.

I did see some posts before where you do not follow the rules of the forum. Please follow the rules. Being 'excited' is no excuse for 'bumping' etc.

Please the rules and follow them, thanks.

Also, is someone is insulting you or being impolite to you, please post a link to that thread so I can see if that poster is breaking the rules.

Thanks,

Neo

Question thank you for your reply...

I apologize for having to make a sudden complaint as I have..
but I am intent on sticking it out with this forum and to be honest with you i did not know until recently that I was breaking the rules.. like I said I have no previous computer or internet skills prior to the last few years and I have absolutely no internet skills prior to joining this forum last year.. so I appologize if i did not understand some of the rules as i should have.. and i have made some changes in the last week or two as far as trying to be more careful.. I am not going to post the thread since i don't want to start anything but driver and some of the moderators took care of it infact I peeked at the thread itself where this happened and I think you said something to the person too.. my concern though is not that I was insulted infact I thought it was a little funny at the time that the person was so intent on making his point and I never meant for him to be banned from the site.. what i am concened about is that I have made several posts and got no answer consecutively so I am wondering if i did something wrong.. I would rather be told that I am bumping or being impatient or even posting something that is a bit hidious which i mayhave... than not hear anything at all.. and also i still respect all the moderators and the senior members even though I am not sure whether to answer or question.. since I am not getting any answers from questions and I seem to border nuisance answering... and those are the only two ways to learn in this forum..
i think it would benefit us both if admin was more clear with me with certain issues ie., Norsk hedensk and google both made it clear to me that this worked this way and that worked that way which was more helpful than you could possibly know and I have'nt had any problems with an of admin so far except that I am not sure where I stand with the forum and i am not sure if that is my fault or their fault.. since you are the administrator maybe you could tell me what you think my best option would be to go back to being a newbie or try and work my way in with the more experienced users..
thanx moxxx68
just trying to learn ....Smilie
by the way i have the highest respect for the forum team members and would very much like to be as skilled as they are...

Moxx - Keep working to build your knowledge, don't ever give up. Be patient, post your questions, and respond to those that interest you. The worst thing you could do is not post for fear of what others say.
