Cannot logon using elinks

There are some computers in the firm that have no GUI, so I use elinks (ELinks - Full-Featured Text WWW Browser) to access the internet. However, logging onto the unix.com forums is not possible, because the page hangs at "Thank you for logging onto the forums, [username]"
There is also a line "Please click here if you are not automatically redirected", but that link does not work, and the web page remains.
Is this by design or some other reason?

EDIT: it could have to do with cookies, which are poorly supported in elinks.

I'm pretty sure it is a cookie issue; sorry, the forums require cookie support.

It may also be a javascript issue, not forwarding you to the next page without it.

The links text browser may be better able to handle it, being the only text browser I know of that has javascript at all. I'll check it out in a minute.

It definitely works in text-mode links.

Thanks all. Using links is not confirmed, since the package could not be installed probably as a result of lack of image support.

I call it confirmed because I did so myself...

You might have to build it yourself, but it's completely possible for links to be built without any support for graphical modes at all -- i.e. doesn't even need the libraries.

99.99999 or more percent of our users visit the site using a graphical browser, so we don't support (make changes or corrections based on issues related to) text-only browsers as far as operations and maintained (O&M) goes.

If anyone can make it work properly on the user side, that's up to the client-side (user).

I will have a look as to the reason why it wont install on the particular machine. Thanks for the response.
