Thanks for bearing with my newbieness, I found that particular forum and from trying your linked again it worked today.

Actually there was nothing at all that you did wrong. And in fact you brought a problem to our attention.

Yesterday, it finally occurred to me to simply log off and become a guest. When I did, that forum disappeared. Today, this is not the case. Clearly, this vBulletin software that we are using needs a liitle work...

its way better than infopop used on alot of other boards. this bbs software is the best ive seen on the net.

Agreed, this is complex software and runs really good. All software can be misconfigured at times.

vB is really great software.

What's your position on iKonboard? vB has the advantage of using PHP instead of PERL, but is it multi-platform like iK?

in any case, the vB does a damn good job here - but without the mods, there would be no forum Smilie

vBulletin uses PHP and we like PHP. We chose vB because it was PHP based Smilie

vB is also commercially supported and aways evolving. There is a major release due out soon.

I agree with you that the moderators and users are very important.

really? i need to get out more - this is what you get when you spend an entire summer disconnected and another month restricted Smilie thanks for that - i'll look into it asap. never good to let one's skills degrade too far Smilie (especially when one has so little Smilie )

Ahhhh!!!!!!!! All of my user accounts can no longer login. I suspected a corrupt passwd file, but everything looks OK and the passwd file works when I copy it to another system.
