Mac OS X with Java 2.0

Hello Masters,

I have a java upgrate problem with Mac OS X system. I have upgrated the Java from 1.4.2 to 1.5 by downloading the package which Apple provided. But it doens't seem to work well. First, the default java is still 1.4.2, not 1.5. Then, by switching it from java preference, it doesn't seem to be affected at all.

Is anyone familiar with this problem?

Is there a better place to post Mac or Java questions?

To the best of my recollection, the Java update does not remove the old Java version from the system.
That is to provide backward compatibility with java apps that "require" version 1.4.2.

If your testing such an app, it will not use 1.5. The java app would need to be recompiled to use 1.5.

Anyone else know more about this?

Also check out macosxhints.com and do a search on "java 1.5".
