html GUI default icon fades out

i have a html file with a default Apple supplied Safari icon that does a slow soft fade out, when i open a directory in the same directory of Documents in the usr account. And when i do close the same said directory the html file does a quick and fast fade out and back to its origin.
I did a mdls of the html file:
kMDItemContentType = "public.html"
kMDItemFSFinderFlags = 16
kMDItemFSHasCustomIcon = 0
kMDItemFSInvisible = 0
kMDItemFSIsExtensionHidden = 1
kMDItemFSIsStationery = 0
kMDItemFSLabel = 0
kMDItemFSNodeCount = 0
kMDItemFSOwnerGroupID = 80
kMDItemFSOwnerUserID = 502
kMDItemFSSize = 14427
kMDItemFSTypeCode = ""
kMDItemKind = "HTML document"

is there any utility, program, or ? available to run on the command line that would reveal why the activity of fading out is taking place.
O, the html file has its origin in textmate, but that does not show in mdls. i did not go into any options obviously. always in a hurry.
The other thing that came to my mind while on the way to the cafe to post this is that the html page is a collection of words to use in the command line , utility`s, programs etc. studying bash. i have used the code tags where i would assume they are needed, but i wonder if there are command line reserved words that i do not know of that are playing with the system.
any feed back ??.
Thank you.
