receiving authentication of - checksum

MacBook 10.6.8, 2.16 GHz, Intel Core 2 Duo
I am trying to find the correct command line utility to verify a SHA-1 digest.
listed below is what i have tried.
I do not know which one would match the SHA -1 , so i can continue to go thru cycles of deleting the download and re up loading until a correct download is achieved.
I have tried to receive assistance at the MAMP forums and the moderator will not work with me. and i will not elaborate and gripe here.

This is the information that is provided at MAMP:
If you who want to verify the authenticity of the download, the SHA-1 digest (also known as a checksum) of this MAMP & MAMP PRO 2.0 download file is:
5af66a8c9c307b9d8072b5d40ad9bfa5cb6f7027
------------------------------------------------------------------
$ cksum /Users/account/Downloads/MAMP.pkg
1024283571 112791285 /Users/account/Downloads/MAMP.pkg
------------

Mac OS X: How to verify a SHA-1 digest

$ SHA1(/Users/account/Downloads/MAMP.pkg)
-bash: syntax error near unexpected token `/Users/account/Downloads/MAMP.pkg'

$ SHA1 /Users/account/Downloads/MAMP.pkg
-bash: SHA1: command not found
---------------------

$ md5 /Users/account/Downloads/MAMP.pkg
MD5 (/Users/account/Downloads/MAMP.pkg) = e588da6a863bf6c339cd55414661eaec

Thank you

Try the following:
Code:
openssl sha1 /Users/account/Downloads/MAMP.pkg

Thank you xbin
I did have that variation and tried it as well. I would guess that is the one i would need to use while i cycle thru downloads to find which one comes thru clean.
Thank again
