How to control devices (DVD) ??

Hi,

I have a problem controlling devices on my iMac.

The internal DVD is no longer working. Therefore I have bought a new external DVD, but some programs use the internal by default (Boot Camp for instance).

Since iMac, runs UNIX beneath the Mac OS X, I hope to do some magic, by unmounting the internal DVD and put in the external one instead.

I have looked in /dev, but I cannot see the internal DVD. If I attach the external DVD, it pops up as disk2, but only if there is a DVD in it.

The harddisk on the computer is disk0.

Is there a way to get info about the devs in /dev ?

I will very be happy, If someone has suggestions on how to solve this kind of problem?

Smilie
