You cannot install Mac OS X on this volume.

I lost the firmware password for my MacBook Pro 13"

I pulled one of the two DIMMs and did a PRAM reset but the password is intact. How do I reset the password.

Assuming this is your Macbook, you shouldn't put a firmware password on it if you can't remember it. Plus physical access to a laptop tosses all security out the window.

If you can log into the OS, there is a GUI application that is on the original restore disks that shipped with that mac book which would be in the extras which will reset a firmware password with a valid admin password for that computer.
