Hi Unix Experts,
I like to compile and compare all the features that AIX OS (541L) and Solaris OS (Solaris 10) provide.
If somebody can shed on this topic would be highly appreciated.
Thank you,

Hello,
I'm trying to login to an Oracle databse without entering the user/passwd. The server resides on an AIX 5.1 system, and using LDAP. I'm entering the following command
>sqlplus / @ORACLE_SID
This should work but for some odd reason I get a login denied.
But if I enter the user id... (1 Reply)

If you want a field's type name, then use oci_field_type(3) instead.

Returns Oracle's raw data type as a number, or FALSE on errors.
EXAMPLES
Example #1
oci_field_type_raw(3) Example
<?php
// Create the table with:
// CREATE TABLE mytab (number_col NUMBER, varchar2_col varchar2(1), clob_col CLOB, date_col DATE);
$conn = oci_connect("hr", "hrpwd", "localhost/XE");
if (!$conn) {
$m = oci_error();
trigger_error(htmlentities($m['message']), E_USER_ERROR);
}
$stid = oci_parse($conn, 'select * from mytab');
oci_execute($stid, OCI_DESCRIBE_ONLY); // Use OCI_DESCRIBE_ONLY if not fetching rows
$n = oci_num_fields($stid);
for ($i = 1; $i <= $n; ++$i) {
echo oci_field_name($stid, $i) . " is raw type: " . oci_field_type_raw($stid, $i) . "<br>
";
}
// Output is:
// NUMBER_COL is raw type: 2
// VARCHAR2_COL is raw type: 1
// CLOB_COL is raw type: 112
// DATE_COL is raw type: 12
oci_free_statement($stid);
oci_close($conn);
?>
NOTES
Note
In PHP versions before 5.0.0 you must use ocicolumntyperaw(3) instead. This name still can be used, it was left as alias of
oci_field_type_raw(3) for downwards compatability. This, however, is deprecated and not recommended.
