I really wish Netflix would support Linux. My HTPC at home is a PC running Ubuntu and it is great, except I have to stream all my Netflix off of my PS3.

Favorite distros

Hi,

I started with Mandrake 10 in 2004, tried Debian testing, then Ubuntu one year and a half then chose Archlinux at early 2006.

In 2008 tried PCLinuxOS light Minime, and kept on dual-booting since. I am now a PCLinuxOS contributor and Archlinux.fr moderator.

I had also tried : Pardus, Slackware, Slax, Foresight, Toutoulinux, Slitaz, and a few more.

I tried once a fork from Sun Opensolaris, and that has been fun ! But this is not the subject here, right ? Smilie

My preferance is Ubuntu

I have managed to work with a number of distribution. The first one was Redhat, and I work with different versions of Redhat starting with Redhat 4. I also worked with CentOS, which is basically the same as Redhat server.
In the last few years I worked with Ubuntu, Debian and SUSE's SLES.

My preference is Ubuntu for a number of reasons:
  • It is very easy to install and maintain.
  • The number of packages available for it is very big. The aptitude mechanism makes it very easy to search for packages and to install them. No need to search he WEB for an RPM and then find out that we require another RPM and search the WEB again. The aptitude service downloads all the packages on which the one you want is dependent on.
  • Frequent updates. Of course, the user can decide which ones to install.

SlackWare - i Like

Well I must say SlackWare, I have tried:
  • Ubuntu - Xubuntu - Kubuntu
  • Debian
  • OpenSUSE
  • Fedora - Redhat
  • ArchLinux
  • SlackWare
And for some reason I like SlackWare the best, it reminds me in strange ways about BSD, when I first tried it a decade ago Smilie
