You have a typo. checkforCmdInPath vs checkForCmdInPath

This is why I dislike the java-ish convention of random capitalization in function names...

It worked, thanks for your help. I will be sure to pay closer attention to how I enter my scripts. So should I avoid that type of naming convention for functions in the future or is this a convention that should/has to be followed?

It is up to you, whatever you prefer. For function names, I prefer lowercase with underscores if need be..
