Barges means a kind of floating platform, but also can be:

<To intrude or interrupt, especially rudely>

Are you trying to tell me something RudiC?

If so, I would appreciate an explanation!
If not well things like this happen all the time...

Given the inconsistent spacing between fields in the sample input in fileB, I assume that there is no reason to expect that the spacing between fields in file1 would be identical to the spacing between fields in file2 for lines that would match if the individual fields were matched instead of matching an entire line from file1 (or using the submitter's filenames, fileA).

But, for the sample data provided, grep is fine.

That was me, not RudiC. I edited you post to fix the CODE tags and didn't notice that auto-spell check corrections changed xargs to barges. I have corrected the typo.

It was more about the BARGES than the grep, Don. I really don't think a mistake like this can come of it's own. So I guess your of the same sentiment.
Rudic does it underhanded and you well, with your passivity.

Maybe it's time to just give it to somebody else who are not tired of dealing with people learning. "Not as good as you!"
You know It's just code in the end and you have your issues like everybody else I guess.

Allowing this behavior pass gives me a sense of who you are, I guess I'm the better of it now.
