Absolute sweet perfection ... Much Thanks!

Never even thought of using expansion, I was way over thinking it.
I have not dissected it yet to fully understand, I will.

Took me a minute to figure out the unary operator expected error, it still worked, just gave an error.

Quoting ${1%/*} like so "${1%/*}" solved that.

My final result:if [ "/" != "${1%/*}" -a ! -d "$1" ]; then

Hello, I searched the forums and didn't see a situation like this: I cannot figure out how to parse out just the file name from the full path. NAME

       lr_environment - Export Lire configuration in shell script form

SYNOPSIS

       eval `lr_environment`

DESCRIPTION

       The lr_environment command is used to import the Lire configuration in Lire shell scripts.

       All of Lire configuration variables will be written in a format that can be evaled by the shell.

       Shell scripts don't usually have to use that command, since it is done by the defaults file sourced by each command.

       The old names used by when the configuration was done in shell script are also exported by this script for backward compatibility.
