Network Group changes

Hi,

I needed to modify the groups of some of my users from for example 10020 to 10210, which i did successfully.

I also rename create groups for example the following:

db2adm::1027:db2,db2as,test
db2asgrp::1028:db2
db2fadm1::1029:

Now everytime one of my users tries to connect to DB2, i get the following : SQL1403N The username and/or password supplied is incorrect. SQLSTATE=08004

I had to modify all the files of the users using chgrp -R and chown -R to adhere to the new modifications, and this seems to have worked perfectly. Everyone can login and work normally.

However, when the users try to connect to DB2 using:
db2 connect to <database> user <name> using <pwd>
it fails !!! when they use NO password it works???
DB2 was always using the Unix Sun system in order to allow logons?
Someone HELP!!..
any advice on what to look for.. i am lost..

Playing with DB2 installations can be a dangerous venture. As a point of reference, is this the actual DB2 database server, or a client installation that connects to another server?

I sorted this one out the other day.

The problem was due to the fact that at installation time on DB2, it requests a default UID and GID (which have now changed). My problem was that, due to this change the authentication on the usernames and passwords for DB2 access had become invalid.

Thus to resolve this issue on DB2 when you change groups, you need to *reinstanciate the instance*with the following command :

Shut down the instance using db2stop
Logon as root
/opt/db2_07_01/instance/db2iupdt <instanceowner>
su to the instance owner and db2start

It worked like a charm Smilie
