If the files were sorted beforehand, the following would do the job:
Code:
join -t= -v2 -o0 file1 file2

If not sorted, you can do so with:
Code:
sort -t= -k1,1 -u file > file.sorted

yours works pretty well. I just have to omit the unwanted comment lines in the files being compared

So, I've got a ton of files that I want to go through (ie something like 300,000), and they're all labeled sequentially. However I'm not 100% positive that they are all there.
