lpq - show printer queue status
SYNOPSIS
lpq [ -E ] [ -U username ] [ -h server[:port] ] [ -P destination[/instance] ] [ -a ] [ -l ] [ +interval ]
DESCRIPTION
lpq shows the current print queue status on the named printer. Jobs queued on the default destination will be shown if no printer or class
is specified on the command-line.
The +interval option allows you to continuously report the jobs in the queue until the queue is empty; the list of jobs is shown once every
interval seconds.
OPTIONS
lpq supports the following options:
-E
Forces encryption when connecting to the server.
-P destination[/instance]
Specifies an alternate printer or class name.
-U username
Specifies an alternate username.
-a
Reports jobs on all printers.
-h server[:port]
Specifies an alternate server.
-l
Requests a more verbose (long) reporting format.

I would like to know how to move jobs from one print queue to another. I'm learning a system based on SCO Unix and I found a way to assign a good printer queue to a damaged printer but it's only good for future jobs. The jobs that hit the queue of the bad printer are stuck in there. Is there a way... (3 Replies)

I have an AIX server runing v5.2.0.0 OS and i am trying to print to a printer attached to the parallel port. I have successfully configured a printer and a print queue. However, when i submit the job i get the following error

I have implemented Laser printers using USB printer servers connected to a SCO server. Sometimes print jobs get stuck on the queue and I havent found a way of getting the printer back to work without canceling the jobs and rebooting the system.
Why jobs get stuck?

I have 13jobs waiting in a printer queue.I am try to get the status and number of jobs using lpstat but i cant see any job is waiting in queue.i think those jobs are in printer buffer.is there any way to get the status of printer buffer too using unix command.please correct me if i am wrong. i... My system is Debian-503-amd64. After I installed the "lpr" package, I found that some files with SUID bit come from this package. As:
ls -l /usr/bin/lp*
....
