XtAppAddBlockHook(3) XT FUNCTIONS XtAppAddBlockHook(3)NAME
XtAppAddBlockHook, XtRemoveBlockHook - register a block hook procedure
SYNTAX
XtBlockHookId XtAppAddBlockHook(XtAppContext app_context, XtBlockHookProc proc, XtPointer client_data);
void XtRemoveBlockHook(XtBlockHookId id);
ARGUMENTS
app_context
Specifies the application context.
proc Specifies the block hook procedure.
num_args Specifies the application-specific data to be passed to the block hook.
DESCRIPTION
XtAppAddBlockHook registers the specified procedure and returns an identifier for it. The hook is called at any time in the future when
the Intrinsics are about to block pending some input.
Block hook procedures are removed automatically and the XtBlockHookId is destroyed when the application context in which they were added is
destroyed.
XtRemoveBlockHook removes the specified block hook procedure from the list in which it was registered.

XtAppAddTimeOut(3) XT FUNCTIONS XtAppAddTimeOut(3)NAME
XtAppAddTimeOut, XtRemoveTimeOut - register and remove timeouts
SYNTAX
XtIntervalId XtAppAddTimeOut(XtAppContext app_context, unsigned long interval, XtTimerCallbackProc proc, XtPointer client_data);
void XtRemoveTimeOut(XtIntervalId timer);
ARGUMENTS
app_context
Specifies the application context for which the timer is to be set.
client_data
Specifies the argument that is to be passed to the specified procedure when .
interval Specifies the time interval in milliseconds.
proc Specifies the procedure that is to be called when time expires.
timer Specifies the ID for the timeout request to be destroyed.
DESCRIPTION
The XtAppAddTimeOut function creates a timeout and returns an identifier for it. The timeout value is set to interval. The callback pro-
cedure is called when the time interval elapses, and then the timeout is removed.
The XtRemoveTimeOut function removes the timeout. Note that timeouts are automatically removed once they trigger.

What is the point of this? Whenever I close my shell it appends to the history file without adding this. I have never seen it overwrite my history file.
# When the shell exits, append to the history file instead of overwriting it
