PSORT(1) General Commands Manual PSORT(1)NAME
psort - sort primitives in metafile as requested
SYNOPSIS
psort [ +/-x ][ +/-y ][ +/-X ][ +/-Y ] file ..
DESCRIPTION
Psort reads each metafile file in sequence and sorts primitives between globals according to the option specification. Lower case options
mean the corresponding minimum, upper case indicates the maximum value. A '+' before the option means sort in order of increasing values,
'-' means decreasing. The order the options appear on the command line is the order in which the extrema are examined. For example, the
options -Y +x would mean "sort on decreasing ymax, then increasing xmin values".
If no input files are specified, the standard input is read.
EXAMPLE
To sort the file "meta" in order of increasing xmax, then decreasing ymin:
psort +X -y meta
FILES
/tmp/psXXXXa /tmp/psXXXXb
BUGS
Aborting the program will sometimes leave files in /tmp.

0.123
0.235
0.890
0.000 etc... (11 Replies)

I have built a linked list for it and stored all the different data types in a structure,... (5 Replies)
Hi All,
After reading that the sort command in Linux can be made to use many processor cores just by using a simple script which I found on the internet, I was wondering if I can use similar techniques for programs like the awk and sed?

I'm doing a hobby project that has me sorting huge files with sort of monotonous keys. It's very slow -- the current file is about 300 GB and has been sorting for a day. I know that sort has this --batch-size and --buffer-size parameters, but I'd like a jump start if possible to limit the... (42 Replies)
