dxarchiver - Archives and restores files to and from disk and tape devices SYNOPSIS
/usr/bin/X11/dxarchiver OPTIONS
The Archiver application accepts all of the standard X Toolkit command line options, which are documented in the OPTIONS section in the X(1X) reference page. DESCRIPTION
Use the Archiver application, dxarchiver, to: Copy and store multiple files to a single, named archive file or output device such as a tape or floppy disk Uncompress incoming archive files and compress newly created files Retrieve stored files from an archive file or device such as a tape or floppy disk Invoke the Archiver application from the CDE Application Manager from the following categories: Application Group: System_Admin System Admin Subgroup: Daily Admin FILES

The Process Tuner application, dxproctuner, is used to monitor and manage processes. Use Process Tuner to: Display a list of processes and their characteristics Display the processes running for yourself or all users Display and modify process priorities Send a signal to a process The Process Tuner application can be invoked from the CDE Application Manager from the following categories: Application Group: System_Admin System Admin Subgroup: MonitoringTuning EXAMPLES
To start Process Tuner from the command line, enter: dxproctuner You can view the Process Tuner online help volume without running the application. To open the Process Tuner help volume from the command line, enter the following command: /usr/dt/bin/dthelpview -h /usr/dt/appconfig/help/C/Dxproctuner.sdl FILES

tar 2GB limit

Any idea how to get around this limit? I have a 42GB database backup file (.dmp) taking up disk space because neither tar nor cpio are able to put it onto a tape. I am on a SUN Solaris using SunOS 5.8. I would appreciate whatever help can be provided. Thanks! (9 Replies)
