MySQL What is File System
What is File System. What file System is used in UNIX? Any Partition ? What is the default directory?

I also want to know the important features of UNIX?

Can anybody help me?

BTW, A filesystem is a way in which files are handled by each operating system.

In unix it is in an hierarchical system. To discuss these in length would take lots of time so read from the above link.

In unix there is a root directory "/" under that we have many subdirectories like "tmp" "dev" "bin" "usr" "etc" and so on, All the things are treated as files in unix, even the hard drive is treated as file.

Initially you can try reading Unix Programming by Kernighan and Pike.

Else if you are a beginner you can try unix programming by Sumithabadas

After you get well versed with Unix you can read Unix Architecture and Design by Maurice Bach. This is really a good book.

Take a look on http://www.osnews.com because there are a lot of tutorials about ext2 , ext3 (Linux and not only filesystems).

Take a look on the ibm site , there's a good tutorial about their filesystem.

how to mount a file system from a solaris server into an hp-ux system
